Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson two lawyers. The couple was moved to Oxfordshire as a child which is where she went to the Dragon School. Since the age of 6 Emma was aware that she wanted to be an actor and for several years, she attended the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre academy where she studied performing and singing. By the time she turned 10 Emma was a participant in multiple Stagecoach productions as well as school productions. When 1999 began, casting was announced with the casting process for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Casting agents found Emma from her Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after the eight auditions that she'd been picked for the role. Emma was chosen to play alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's first appearance in a film was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. It broke all records on its opening and weekend ticket numbers, and was one of the top 2001 films. The film was well-received by experts, as was the performance of three stars. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British paper, called Emma's acting "amazing". Emma's performance won her a nomination and was awarded five more times for the film.
